If you are on the fence about planning a destination wedding in Hawai’i, you’ve come to the right place! Although a destination wedding is not for everyone, there are a lot of perks that make it a great decision for our clients. Below we’ve outlined the top 5 reasons our clients choose to celebrate their big day in Hawaii.

Year Round

When planning their wedding, most couples have to take into consideration the best time of year for all their loved ones to be able to attend. This may mean celebrating between school semesters, during key off-seasons for work, or when travel costs are lower. With all these factors to consider, the best time of year to get married doesn’t always land in the spring or summer months. While that may play a big role in your venue options on the mainland, it Hawaii you can get married outdoors all year round. The seasons do vary slightly, but the chance of pleasant weather is very high.

Intimate Guestlist

There can be a lot of pressure to invite certain guests out of obligation when planning a wedding. When you opt for a destination wedding, the chances of distant relatives and your parent’s colleagues actually attending is reduced. It will depend on your group’s situation, but most destination wedding guestlists have an attrition rate of about 20-30%. Traveling to Hawaii is a big investment and the folks who decide to attend will be the most enthusiastic to be a part of your celebration. Not only will you your guestlist be condensed to your nearest and dearest, but having a smaller guest count will inevitably give you more wiggle room in your wedding budget for the fun stuff like entertainment and decor!

Unique Experience

If you are at that age when all your friends are getting married, then you’ve likely seen what your location has to offer in regards to wedding venues and vendors. It’s hard to get excited or feel ownership over your celebration, when you feel like it’s all been done before. On the other hand, opting to get married in Hawaii ensures your wedding will be unique and extra memorable. From the stunning views to the cultural traditions, your guests will surely be wowed.

Convenience of Location

One thing we often hear from our clients is that they opt to get married in Hawaii due to the location's convenience and appeal to both families. Given that many of their family and friends are scattered across different areas of the world, Hawai'i is often an ideal mid-point for everyone. Even if it isn’t a midpoint, it is a neutral location that everyone can get excited about.

More Than One Day

The number one reason our clients choose to have a destination wedding in Hawaii is that they want the celebration and quality time to last more than one day! Our clients also often organize additional events like welcome drinks, a rehearsal dinner, activities and a post wedding brunch. In addition, when you offer guests a room block it gives everyone an opportunity stay in close proximity and get to know each other through out the stay. We also notice that because none of the guests have to work about a long drive or work the next day, they are often more relaxed and present in the celebration.

We hope that we’ve convinced you to host your destination wedding here in Hawaii. If you would like to learn more about how to have an organized and beautiful wedding on the island of Oahu, be sure to reach out!
