Mariah and Dan’s Lanikuhonua Wedding, A Thoughtful Oceanfront Celebration
Some weddings just feel like a deep exhale. Calm, joyful, and completely grounded in what matters most, that was Mariah and Dan.
They traveled all the way from the Midwest to celebrate with their closest people at Lanikuhonua Phase 1, and from the very beginning, they brought such a genuine warmth to the entire experience. The kind that makes everything feel easy in the best way. They trusted the process, they trusted our team, and together we were able to create something that felt so deeply like them.
The day started with an oceanfront ceremony that honestly reminded us why couples choose Hawaii in the first place. It was the perfect February day with live strings from Mana Music setting the tone as Mariah walked down the aisle. It felt simple, meaningful, and completely intentional without ever feeling overdone.
For the reception, we worked closely with Pacific Party Rentals to create a layout that really balanced comfort, beauty, and flow for the evening. Cocktail hour and the dance floor were under a sailcloth tent to give guests a bit of shade and structure, while dinner itself was set in an open-air space that leaned into the natural surroundings. Overhead, we layered rattan and paper lanterns that moved with the island breeze and the lighting gave off this soft, ambient glow that felt relaxed but still elevated.
What made this wedding especially memorable, though, were all of the personal touches woven throughout the day. We partnered with Aloha Artisans to create a lounge and seating chart installation that felt like it belonged in the space while still standing out in a really intentional way.
And then there was one of my favorite details from the entire day. Mariah’s handwriting. She incorporated it into several of the paper goods, the welcome sign, the place cards, and she even included handwritten notes to each guest that were the focal point of their seating chart. It was one of those details that people didn’t just notice, they felt the warmth that it brought to the evening. It added such a thoughtful, personal layer to the overall design.
Our Love Letter Weddings floral team brought everything together with arrangements that felt classic and timeless, with just enough personality to make them feel just right. Throughout the night, guests kept coming up to us saying how much everything felt like Mariah and Dan, which is always exactly what we hope for.
As the sun set, Kani Events took over and kept the dance floor full all night. What started with heartfelt toasts and sentimental moments turned into a celebration that felt equal parts emotional and fun, the kind of night no one was quite ready to leave.
Weddings like this are why we love what we do, because everything feels intentional and true to the couple. Mariah and Dan reminded us that when you trust your team and stay grounded in what matters most to you, the end result isn’t just something that looks beautiful, it’s something that feels beautiful too.
If you’re dreaming of a Hawaii destination wedding that feels like you, we’d love to help bring that to life.
